Two years ago, I photographed my first soccer game: a night game at Stanford University. I was shooting for The Daily Californian and the editor, I’m sure, was expecting me to come back with something usable. The experience was something of a nightmare: I was confined to a box at the half line, the lighting on the field was patchy, and had all the wrong equipment. And it was my first experience shooting sports… ever. Not a single image turned out and my editor was forced to use a file photo from the previous semester.

Last weekend, I redeemed myself with a  photo shoot of the Sonoma County Sol game. The teams tied 1-1.

If I recall, we actually used one of yours. I think. If I’m thinking of the right game. It was a long fucking time ago. But I think we did still use one of yours.

But yes, these pics are nicer, especially the first shot (with the light/dark thing going on). Good work.

I might have been taking some creative liberty with the story; I forget what actually happened. My photos, however, were unforgettably bad. Yep.
